The JCBeCARE International Conference -
Towards 2030: The Practitioner-Researcher Collaborated Bereavement Care
The Project (JCBeCARE)
Jockey Club Bereavement Care and Support Alliance (JCBeCARE) is a project organized by the Department of Social Work and Social Administration of the University of Hong Kong, funded by the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust. It aims to connect different social service organizations, helping professionals and people who care about bereavement issues in Hong Kong, so that the bereaved may receive necessary supports from the community and the social support they receive can be strengthened. Besides, it is hoped to consolidate practical wisdom and empirical research findings in developing best practice guidelines and models in bereavement care. By providing assessment guidelines, intervention models and professional training, the overall competencies of helping professionals in offering bereavement counselling would be enhanced.

The Funder (The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust)
The Hong Kong Jockey Club devotes its surplus each year to charity and community projects, and in 1959 a separate company, Hong Kong Jockey Club (Charities) Ltd, was formed to administer donations. In 1993, a new entity was established, The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, to reflect the evolving nature, scale and scope of donations. The Charities Trust is one of the world’s top ten charity donors. Working with the Government, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and community partners, the Trust is committed to improving the quality of life of the people of Hong Kong. As a philanthropic organisation in its own right, the Trust also proactively identifies and initiates projects that anticipate future community and social needs.
